About Kids Crafty Clubs Learning Centre

We are a family owned & operated learning centre nestled in the heart of Howick.

We are proud to be supporting tamariki in growth and develop for over 30 years and encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves.

Once tamariki have finished their preschool journey with us, they can begin their new journey at our KCC Kids Club which links in greatly with one another, supporting our tamariki in their school life.

We are open Monday – Friday,7.30am – 5.30pm, 52 weeks of the year. We only close on public holidays.

Our Vision for Kids Crafty Clubs

To work with and alongside parents and whānau developing respectful, trusting partnerships. To acknowledge, embrace and celebrate diversity amongst our parents and whānau. To guide our tamariki to be socially competent, caring individuals and to be independent. To feel a sense of belonging.

And most importantly to have fun while learning!

Kids Crafty Clubs Philosophy

Expect T.L.C for your V.I.P at KCC

Our goal at KCC is to provide all children with a comfortable, creative, nurturing and educational environment in which each child can develop at his or her individual pace.

We focus on play, social development, and ready for school in our beautiful indoor and outdoor environments.

We encourage good self-esteem and fun for our tamariki, both of which we believe are foundations of learning.

We celebrate all cultures and value each child’s own identity.

Kaiako value every moment as an opportunity for learning, and through the freedom of play, each child is supported to thrive on their unique learning journey.

When a child is relaxed, learning becomes a natural part of their development.

We all look forward of being part of your child’s journey at KCC.

ABOUT KCC

Our People

At Kids Crafty Clubs children are at the heart of everything we do. Each child is loved, respected, and treasured. Supported by nurturing relationships with teachers, children are empowered to explore and learn holistically by making authentic connections in a peaceful environment. Our teachers all have one thing in common, they are kind and caring, they love to have fun, and they have a passion for teaching and share a commitment to quality early childhood education and care.

Our Learning Environments

Kaiako build reciprocal relationships with the children which assists the children in their social and emotional development. The environment is warm and nurturing, this gives the children the opportunities to build on their physical strength and motor coordination, fine and gross motor skills, hand/eye and eye/foot coordination and full body movement. We believe in enhancing each child’s mana and confidence through play and interactions.

Kids Crafty Clubs is separated into 3 houses, each considered with care for the different ages and stages of young children. We allow each house to overlap in age groupings so together we can choose a house which best fits your child.

Our Curriculum

Te Whāriki, the early childhood curriculum, is the foundation of everything we do at Kids Crafty Clubs. Te Whāriki is delivered meaningfully, peacefully and with love. Teachers value every moment as an opportunity for learning and through the freedom of play, each child is supported to thrive on their unique learning journey.

This is supported through our play-based, emergent curriculum, where kaiako work closely with families to create a consistent routine between home and KCC.

To celebrate the children’s achievements and milestones, we document their learning through Storypark, our portfolio record.

Tui House

Tui House is our baby room offering care & support for babies.

Tui House has a beautiful house including their own outdoor space separate to our toddlers & preschoolers.

Kowhai House

Kowhai House is our toddler room offering extended care & support for toddlers.

Kowhai House offers a large indoor space filled with exciting resources for our toddlers to explore & use their imagination in.

They share our large outdoor space with our preschoolers throughout the day so they can experience a bond & learn with older tamariki.

Phoenix House - 4's+ Learning Hub

Phoenix House is our preschool room that offers more broadened care & support for tamariki.

Our programme supports tamariki to build self-help skills and school readiness, helping them transition to school with confidence.

Tamariki take part in focused learning experiences that grow their independence, responsibility and confidence. These are guided by Te Whāriki and aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum (Level One).

Learning Through Real Experiences

Our KCC Farm is an important part of our programme. Children have opportunities to:

  • Care for animals
  • Explore gardening
  • Try simple carpentry

These hands-on experiences encourage real-life learning, responsibility and care for the environment.

Learning Together

Older children spend time with younger children throughout the day, building tuakana-teina relationships.

This supports children to:

  • Lead and guide others
  • Show kindness and care
  • Build confidence and empathy

During each term we also take a trip to a local primary school so our tamariki can experience what a new entrants classroom feels like.

Kids Crafty Clubs Learning Centre offers free venue hire for enrolled families so you can celebrate your child's special day in our large and safe outdoor space.

Make sure you message us to save a spot later in the year!
